Singles Travel

Travel – whether it be the desire to see the Grand Canyon or take a tour of the Taj Mahal, the wanderlust is just as strong for a single person as it is for a married couple or people with partners. Many satisfy this desire by traveling with friends. Others, many who have to juggle hectic work schedules with their personal lives, have a hard time coordinating their schedules with friends.

Still others may just recently have moved or left a relationship and not yet had time to make new friends. That does not mean they have to hang around the local bar on their week off. There are any number of possibilities for singles travel for those willing to look around. These range from "swinging singles" cruises to package tours based on a particular theme. The only real limit is the imagination of the traveler and the depth of the bank account.

Package Tours

When it comes to finding a package tour, there really are hundreds of companies and travel agencies around the world that offer both simple and exotic deals for singles. The benefit of a package tour is that going with a group usually cuts the transportation and lodging costs because the tour gets a group rate. The tourist also has less work to do planning what to do or see on the trip since the itinerary is set beforehand.

Much of the tension of traveling in a group of strangers also can be reduced since the tour usually is based around a common interest or the tour is being sponsored by a group in which the participants have some interest. Therefore, it is easier to "break the ice" with fellow travelers because they do not have to start conversation by talking about the weather.

Variety

Perhaps an unintended benefit for those singles looking to travel is that, given the money, they can do just about anything they want without having to have the approval of a spouse or partner. While this might not be the case on a planned package tour, the options for singles travel otherwise are wide open.

For those single travelers willing to go it alone, it still does not mean they have to be alone. More and more resorts and travel destinations are catering to the single traveler and offering activities for individuals within a group setting once they arrive at their destination.
